Thread, Thought I would jot down a few notes for future reference. Don't hold me to any facts because I certainly may have scribbled them down incorrectly.
The numbers clearly indicate that AT&T is going ahead quickly in upgrading their cable network to deliver voice/video/data. It's definitely for real and obviously the greatest factor that is forcing the incumbents (RBOCs) to start aggressively rolling out DSL in response. MikeM(From Florida)

Overall --Q3 generated revenue of $237 million (Of which $105 was AT&T). --Q3 revenues were up 58% yr over yr, and up a whooping 21% sequentially.
Cornerstone --Q3 revenues are up 71% yr over yr. --90% of Cornerstone is headend equipment. --Strong HDT and CMTS (Host Digital Terminals and Cable Modem Termination System) sales. --Goal is to establish large footprint for future voice port upgrades. Have shipped 970 HDTs that are in all of AT&T's markets. --For AT&T's local access voice plans see: Message 11264008 --They sell Cornerstone to AT&T, Cox, Cablevision, Comcast. --Shipped 338 CMTS. Major buyers are Adelphia, MediaOne. --HDT has 4.3 million lines of capacity installed today in the United States. --Cox is number two in cable telephony today. Cox is in seven major markets. --Cox see local voice as being very profitable for them with high penetration rates.
Active Electronics/Transmission Products --Q3 revenues are up 23% yr over yr. ----Antec feels AT&T has not even reached full stride yet in their re-build plans. So the future looks good for transmission products. --ANTC is full supplier of Fiber/DWDM gear to AT&T's, "Lightwire," Salt Lake City project. --DWDM Fiber products introduced one year ago. --In seven major AT&T markets today. --Time Warner did first deployment of DWDM gear. --Newest customer is Intermedia. They will use DWDM for three rebuilds. --Are shipping a scaleable node soon. --Are shipping a, "Micro-node," product in December.
Powering Line --Powering line is weak but are now in negotiations with AT&T. --TSP will ship soon. Hoping this product will turn around division. --TSP should do well internationally.
Keptel --Q3 revenues are up 24% yr over yr. --Repeaters are in high demand because of telco's HDSL rollouts. --Shipped 8,000 ADSL POTS splitters to date. Will double production this quarter. --G.lite should come online and add to splitter revenues. --Fiber Management systems are selling well both in CO and outside plant.
Distributied Products --I don't know what they said about this, so it must not be that good? Or maybe it's part of Keptel. I probably shouldn't have broken this out. But my 15 minutes will be up before I can straighten it out. |
