1. Will Wi-LAN be able to get any patent protection, say for W-OFDM improvements, outside North America?

Yes; provided we do not try to patent something that we have already patented.

2. Do you see Wi-LAN developing primarily as an IP licensing company, or a manufacturer of products?

This is a question that is best left for the future to answer. We now have two businesses: licensing and product development and marketing. Most of our revenue for 1999 is from product sales. It is not wise to abandon product sales if licensing is not mature.

3. What value is PHG getting from Wi-LAN for its non-North American markets? Is it anything in addition to expertise and trade secrets?

Since the agreement with PHG is not just a patent license, it is also a technology transfer, the land of the patent is not too significant.

4. When you say that Wi-LAN does not intend to go after the LAN market - do you mean only that it will not attempt to market products in that market, but will license technology to players there?

Yes. Wi-LAN may also develop modules to sell to players in the LAN market.

5. Finally, with respect to business model - are you familiar with the British company Arm Holdings (NASDAQ: ARMHY, LSE:ARM) - and how similar is, or will be, your business model to theirs?

I will check and hopefully let you know sometime soon.

Hatim
