Shalom, if you do not claim 10,000 dollars of contributions on your taxes then you don't get that tax benefit.
Do your taxes with your contributions in them and w/o.

Just a hypothetical.
your taxable income is 72,000 and you didn't claim your 10,000 that
you gave to charities and the church ..your tax is 14954.
now do your taxes with the contributions and it is 12154.
savings 2800

So, my senator uses that 2800 for a junket to Bahamas... when you could have sent that money to a ministry in haiti and really helped a church there.

All contributions that are over 250 must be accounted for and a 1099
created and sent to IRS and you.
The minsitry must have your soc. ser. number to do this.
There are tricks you can play on the 250. but, if you try them on places you give alot too..you'll face an audit.

if the giving was 3000 then my senator can only go to Cancun<g>
savings is 800.

I thoguht you knew all this????

This year even your kids regardless of their age must have soc. ser. number are you canot deduct them. It will be automatically denied.
