I tried bowling. But the lady at the babysitting nook at the bowling alley was such a dragon my kids refused to go back there- and I would have been too embarrassed to take them back. My daughter was going through a religious faze and she told the woman she was going to go to hell for being so mean to little children (and apparently she really was mean- from what my daughter told me). I think my daughter was about 5 at the time. Needless to say the woman was slightly annoyed.
