Hi star,
I have responded to this question a number of times privately.. I have my account with a small branch of a nation wide broker.. I have a wonderful relationship with my broker and friend of 20 years ,the firm, as I do all my trading there. I pick up the phone, get good executions, and a discount. I do my futures trading with a discounter in Chicago and am very happy.. Been with them a long time too.
I have read the horror stories of online brokers down, poor executiuons, etc. so I have stayed away.. I have been lucky with allocations w/s good ones.. small, 50 to 250 shares, INAP, DSCM, IWMN, extreme, IIJI, come to mind, I flip most.. they don't care. They don't participate in all, so I ask for most.. the poor ones, I'm out immediately, lose the commish. Usually I can make a point or two though.
I am the only one that consisently asked for new issues. others come and go..
But the real advantage is to have a broker like on CRDS, where I didn't participate to be ready at the opening with an order to punch to buy and to stay with me to sell if it works or doesn't.
I do trade a lot but in small lots, because of my trading policy of never betting the ranch on a any one thing.
The key IMO is RELATIONSHIP and not to jump around..
Hope it helps......coug |
