Re: ANTC's HDT/CMTS Footprint
DenverTechie, Thanks for the clarification. A couple of follow up comments from the CC.
If I had to summarize the, "Cornerstone," aspect of the CC in three words, I would say, "Footprint, footprint, footprint." This was emphasized quite a bit. I'm intrigued by this aspect because if I understand your comments correctly, there are two future revenue streams as a result of Antec establishing their HDT/CMTS footprint today.
HDT(Host Digital Terminal) footprint -- I'm pretty certain that Egan said the more HDTs they put out there, the more future voice port revenues Antec will generate. I was assumming this was circuit-switched voice. Was my assumption correct?
CMTS(Cable Modem Termination System) footprint -- You are saying this will lead to future VoIP revenues, if and/or when VoIP comes online. Is this correct?
If so, that is a lot of revenues that will be coming online for many years. Best of all, in what I think will be a pretty nice transisition from circuit-switched to IP telephony. _______________
As to the gross margins, I didn't even realize that TeleWire Supply was that big a part of Antec's revenues! So I don't understand why a particular analyst was so concerned about gross margins in what is basically a re-seller business. But I believe that is a point some analyst have already made that also could not understand the drop. I kind of still feel it may have been Leo Hindrey related, but that is pure speculation on my part.
I will be doing a summary of the Tellabs CC soon. Talk about margin problems. They have some that will be very important for them to get under control.
