Informix (IFMX)

Last week IFMX reported earnings, which beat the Street estimates. IFMX has been doing so over the past year. Their turn-around looks like it's for real. You might want to consider IFMX, the database company, a web company in drag. Someone on the IFMX thread posted the following:

<<H&Q Outlook:

"We believe management can follow through on its guidance for a strong December quarter as a prelude to broader new product uptake at the start of FY00. The pipeline of deals looks strong, and we believe the slowdown in North America can be picked up on the strength of the new product lines. The company is selling away from situations where Y2K lockdowns are in effect, and as a result is deriving a smaller percentage of revenue from ERP and related standard transaction systems. We continue to get independent reports of small, very Web-savvy startups picking Informix products for their scalability, efficiency and strong query response capabilities. At current levels, Informix is priced at just over 1 times our forecasted 2000 revenues. For a company with positive revenue growth, increasing margins, and credible prospects for Internet-driven revenue increases over the next several quarters, we believe IFMX continues to represent very good value, and we reiterate our BUY rating on that basis.">>
