Re: I am not aware of companies trading options in their own stock, and there may even be rules against it. Some companies do this -- DELL makes about as much trading options on their own stock as they do running their business. The "profits" aren't accounted as earnings though, but they do show up in the cash flow which releases earnings for other uses. Fortune magazine had a piece about this many months ago. It always seemed to me to be the ultimate insider trading for a company to trade options on their own stock (both short and long) but it appears to be legal as far as the SEC is concerned. Bill
