Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that, with only a few exceptions, the big profits in internet stocks have been made in two ways. 1. Buying them in 1997-1998 when the internet was vastly underestimated. 2. Incubating them from scratch and then selling at a huge P/Sales ratio. Since it's no longer 1997, the most appealing stocks are the four incubators, i.e. Softbank,ICGE,CMGI and SFE. My guess is figuring out whether ARBA or CKFR or something else is the best already well known stock, won't be as profitable as figuring out which of the four incubators are the best, the real gorillas. Any wiser opinions?
