Not being No.1 in PC sales in the US could be a blessing in disguise. It gives CPQ an opportunity to point out that since PC's represent only 40+% of its revenues, being a close No.2 in the US and NO. 1 worlwide, aint bad. Being diversified, is better.

Also the pressure is now on DELL. Let's see how it feels as the fox, not the hound. It's conceivable that the headlines before the next earnings is that CPQ has removed DELL from No. 1 (however temporarily) given COMPAQ's heavy 4th quarter sales to consumers.
