I don't get your meaning. What reason do the folks who have "read their history" have to believe in religion? If they believe it is true- don't they believe it because they don't want to go to Hell and wish to go instead to comfortable heaven? Isn't that comfort? Or they believe because they want to be "good" and are uncomfortable being the chaff which the wind driveth away? That's comfort.
