This makes sense to me if you look out over the long term. What we are concerned with is the recent drop in LU's share price. In this case, it seems to me that the recent ratio of short selling vs. purchases would be much more applicable to the situation. Maybe you can comment on this.

Also, I believe you are right that most CEO's don't abstractly care if someone shorts the stock, but if that someone is spreading false negative (or even positive) rumors it makes sense to me that this would irritate the nerves. The rumor mill has been been churning in LU and it doesn't take a cynic to believe that many of these stories are self-serving lies. It would not surprise me to find that Rich McGinn is pretty fed-up with this situation.
