Westfort Energy completes Clifton Rhodes 7-6 well - Permits W.D. Rhodes 1A in Pelahatchie Field
11:19 EST Monday, October 25, 1999

JACKSON, MS, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - Westfort Energy, Ltd., symbol WT - Toronto Stock Exchange, announced test results on the completion of the Clifton Rhodes 7-6 well. Perforations in a Rodessa formation zone at 10,270-74 ft swab tested high gravity (40 degree) oil and gas at an entry rate in excess of 1000 barrels per day and flowed at a rate of 648 barrels per day on a six hour test with 50 pounds tubing pressure on 25/64ths choke. No formation water was detected. Production facilities for the well are being installed.

The Rodessa formation in Pelahatchie Field is one of more than 40 separate sands in the Upper and Lower Cretaceous formations at Pelahatchie Field (to approx. 12,000 ft subsurface) that have either produced or have had oil/gas shows. The E.W. Rhodes No. 2 well, recently reentered and recompleted in the Rodessa by Westfort; originally produced 168,462 barrels of oil from this formation in the 1960's before being prematurely abandoned due to mechanical problems. A pumping unit is being installed on this well and full production is expected shortly.

W.D. Rhodes 1A The company also announced today that permit has been secured, location built and Patterson Drilling Company is expected to move in rig this week on the W.D. Rhodes 1A, a replacement well for the W.D. Rhodes well in Pelahatchie Field. The W.D. Rhodes well was the original discovery well for the Norphlet formation. Having produced at rates in excess of 2000 barrels of oil per day with 2000 mcf gas per day at a depth of 17,100 feet, the well was later junked when tools became stuck in the well casing. Westfort has secured a permit to drill to 11,850 ft in order to evaluate numerous potential pay zones indicated to this depth in the original well. The new well is situated approximately 100 ft south and 140 ft west of the original well. It is expected to take approximately 21 days to drill the new well once spudded.

The Toronto Stock Exchange has neither approved nor disapproved of this release!
