Steven, I'm still not getting a warm fuzzy with T's proposed Angel platform. Another trial still remains in the critical path, despite their minimizing that aspect. And the channel plan (voice, video<?>, data) allocations within their proposed narrowband product [which they will likely call broadband, I'm rather certain] aren't spelled out for public scrutiny yet, nor are the transmission modes spelled out. I, for one, am still waiting to read the headlines in the morning paper, once they have an offering that's been standardized.
I suspect that the pressure is such at this point (both for penetration reasons as they affect revenues, and equally, for face saving) that they must make something work, and quick. They seem to be sticking with their original 2000 time frame. The only questions that remain in my mind are what that something will be, how much it will cost, and how will it scale... given the hint of meager spectrum allocations versus norrower-band delivery in some areas than they would otherwise like to see be the case. Other comments and corrections are welcome.
Regards, Frank Coluccio
ps - and OT, has anyone been experiencing severe server drag here on SI besides myself for the past couple of day? Page refreshes are now taking about fifteen to thirty seconds, as opposed to the usual two or three seconds which has been the norm. I'm using a 56k. Just wondering, since my other sites are behaving 'normally.' |
