Well, I actually think the potential for iship is huge, if they do it right. Not much there now though, I agree.

iship needs to interface to all the large shippers and provide competitive rates on a per-piece basis - then provide this service to every e-commerce site like Amzn.

Of course it is in Amzn's best interest to use the info internally and not provide to customers, since they make money on fulfillment but that is irrelevant.

The whole area served by iship (which is transportation) needs major work. e-stamp is probably thinking iship will help them get placement on the Amazon or Dell site, and it probably will. People don't realize that e-commerce outsources a whold business process to the shippers where previously retail did not... and that shipping area is totally unruly and expensive, Dell doesn't want it, they just want it to go away.

If I knew iship had any real meat to it I would buy stamps.com, I think its a hot area, but I don't know either company really.... maybe I'll go to the job fair today and check them out....
