Just looking at the price rise from Dec '96 to Feb '97, it looks like it was so exciting that folks want a repeat performance.

Another explanation is that the precipitous price drop was without fundamentals, so that the efficent market makers are just taking advantage, buying up all the shares they can muster thereby raising the price.
