That's why they are "analysts", bunch of MBA grads who probably have never set a foot in the C.O. or network command center in their life.

Which is why I laugh sometimes when I hear people say things like: "market is never wrong"

Analyststs are wrong almost as much as retail investors. They may have a better feel for the short term results (only because they get to talk to the senior mgmt on a regular basis) but as far as predicting major paradigm shift in industry or companies --- you are just as likely to better off flipping coins as listening to analysts. That has been my personal experience at least.

(actually I talk to some personal friends who cover technology for the institutions they work for and they ask ME for my take! And based on the questions they ask, I KNOW that they know very little about the telecom market)

Conclusion? Don't feel too bad if an analyst puts down Nortel.
