For the sake of discussion, please allow me take the opposite side of the argument.

I believe that Q's management understands the WS game very well. The two incidents you reference (and several others I could cite) to substantiate your contention of Q's cluelessness are actually well thought out efforts on their part to keep the momentum crowd from distorting the valuation of qcom. Since they use stock options an important part of their compensation package, a steep but orderly rise in price would work best for recruiting and retention purposes.

Dr. J's management team is brilliant, and no one has ever accused the heavy handed WS manipulators of having an abundance of grey matter. Imho, it would be a mistake to underestimate the Q.
