You asked him, but I wanna answer. ;)

i820/DRDRAM vs. Irongate/PC100 IS a "joke" in price/performance.

With the extremely high costs of an i820 system (whenever incompetent Intel gives it the green light) one would expect it to offer a superior performance advantage but it only offers better performance is a few applications with processors at a HIGHER clock speed.

i840 seems to be better used w/DRDRAM because those systems cost a bunch anyways and I would guess with its extra features it is faster than i820.

I bet Intel can't wait to get out their PC133 compatible chipset!
