WONDERS OF THE AFRICAN WORLD televised in HDTV and demonstrated by Zenith's technology may represent the end of one long journey and start of another for me. Or, it may be the start of the next stage in the defense of Zenith.
At the age of 20, I was in the first Peace Corps group to serve in Gabon, the former heart of the African slave trade region where most slaves where shipped to the New World. Our project was to build 40 primary schools. I was a stone mason. Greatest experience in my life. I worked side by side with the Gabonese and lived in their villages. I've returned to Africa many times. No matter your skin shade, once Africa smitten, Africa beckons you to frequently return.
I found tonight's edition of WONDERS OF THE AFRICAN WORLD too self-absorbed by Gates with racism. Africa is a continent for all mankind and is a showcase of this planet's incredible creation.
It's blasphemous that the LGE damage control team has attempted to paint our defense of Zenith against LGE as a "racist attack". We admit to a thorough analysis of the Korean/Chinese business and war tactics employed in the past, including the analysis of the "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu and many more recent books. However, being aware of the historical background and present practices of one's foe is not racism. It's part of the preparation required for a suitable defense.
This has been a long and hard battle for me and my family. They have had to live with me the past two years seeing my life-long savings become decimated by the alleged acts of fraud conducted by LGE.
I could have walked away many times and moved on to more fruitful endeavors. Instead, I and others chose to fight. I first organized with Dennis Whilden a meeting of Zenith shareholders on June 27, 1998 in Chicago and prepared a report on the situation which is included here on SI. Dennis and I served as co-chairman of the Unofficial Equity Committee of Zenith Shareholders from September 1998 to March 1999, when I resigned due to my disenchantment with the committee's inept legal counsel.
During the past few years, my wife and I have traveled to Mexico to examine Zenith's plants, attended the past two Annual CES exhibitions in Las Vegas, attended and participated in Zenith's last Annual Meeting, engaged in close communication with many Zenith officers and employees including Pete Willmott and John Taylor, and spent many thousands of hours pouring over all available documentation available on the Internet and elsewhere. Our communications with the SEC helped to prolong the bankruptcy attempt for an additional 12 months, requiring LGE/Zenith to render six editions of the S-4 application.
Now, we go to bankruptcy court on November 5 to see the fate of Zenith. If we are successful, the defense of Zenith remains active until all facts are revealed and the court takes appropriate action. If we lose, Zenith is truly dead and the cycle becomes completed. I will congratulate John Koo for his victory and find other challenges in life.
In close of this highly personal discourse, I highly recommend a trip to Africa. The game parks are of special note. Once experienced, you will be changed. |
