Never underestimate the power of a mania. And also, more specifically, Goldman Sachs told their private clients yesterday to buy the stock in anticipation of great earnings news.

You see, when goldman wants to dump stock, they issue a PUBLIC "strong buy" with a price target increase.

However, when they want to do a favor to their favored clients, they tell them directly.

Of course, this is an uncomfortable idea for 99.99% of the investing public, who think that public recommendations from brokerages are really designed "to help the little guy" when in fact they are designed to do nothing more than steal their money.

Goldman would NOT tell their best clients to buy if they thought there was any chance of an earnings disappointment. Also, since goldman was one of the lead underwriters of Ebay, you can bet every penny you own that Ebay has shown them the final numbers for the quarter.
