J.D. Edwards and FileNET Announce Strategic Alliance for Integrated Document Management SOLUTIONS
Integration Between J.D. Edwards and FileNET Panagon Enables Cost Effective Access to Any Document From Any Desktop
DENVER, and COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), the leading supplier of agile software solutions for e-business announced today an alliance with FileNET Corp. (Nasdaq: FILE), an industry leader in providing Web-based enterprise software solutions, aimed at allowing J.D. Edwards OneWorld(TM) customers to integrate with FileNET's Panagon(TM) software. The combination of J.D. Edwards enterprise business software, and FileNET's Web-based content management software represents the fundamental infrastructure for total enterprise-wide information management -- a practical keystone to a Knowledge Management strategy.
Integration with Panagon will allow customers to dramatically improve business productivity across the entire OneWorld suite. Built upon FileNET's reliable Panagon software, proven in mission-critical applications in over 4,000 installations, the powerful information management capabilities will allow OneWorld customers to more effectively manage customer correspondence, invoices, contracts, engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, quality and compliance documents, and literally any paper or electronic document. By replacing costly paper and microfilm with automated capture, display, storage, retrieval and management of OneWorld-linked images and documents, Panagon eliminates expensive, time-consuming manual searches and routing of original paper-based documents, thereby improving a company's customer service.
"Through FileNET's integration with J.D. Edwards we were able to end the paper chase associated with processing 700,000 invoices each year," said Jeff Slaby, administrative manager at Cargill, an international marketer, processor and distributor of agricultural, food, financial and industrial products. "It is this combination that is enabling Cargill to realize our global vision for finance."
According to a recent survey conducted by Framingham, Mass.-based International Data Corporation, 25.8 percent of the companies polled already have or are implementing a document management system, and another 45.8 percent plan to implement a document management system within 24 months(1), which underscores the growing reliance companies have upon document management systems.
"Companies are looking for ways leverage their existing time and money investment in enterprise software applications, further improve business processes, as well as eliminate the age old paper problem," said Martyn Christian, vice president of FileNET Worldwide Solutions Sales and Marketing. "The integration between OneWorld and Panagon is a natural evolution that will allow our mutual customers to effectively deal with these challenges."
"We have selected FileNET as a document management partner to provide our customers with the ability to not only electronically manage their documents but to also share the documents with their suppliers and customers via the Internet," said Keith Hiatt, product marketing manager for manufacturing solutions at J.D. Edwards. "This enables our customers to maximize the value they receive from our enterprise business software and more effectively collaborate with customers and suppliers."
