Parametric Technology Corporation Teams Up with HP to Extend Consulting and Services Offering

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1999--

Alliance Enables Fast, Secure Implementation of PTC's

Collaborative Product Commerce Solutions

Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:PMTC) today announced
it has formed an alliance with Hewlett-Packard Company to offer a
portfolio of service solutions to support implementation of PTC's
Windchill Factor! e-Series collaborative product commerce solutions.
The new service offerings will include process consulting, application
integration and IT infrastructure implementation.

As one of PTC's largest systems suppliers, HP will provide
technology services and worldwide consulting expertise for PTC's
Windchill and i-Series solutions. The alliance combines the
complementary consulting services of PTC's Windchill application and
integration consulting with HP's world-class manufacturing process
consulting to help global manufacturing enterprises successfully
implement collaborative product commerce solutions. HP also is a
member of Windchill's Board of Customer Advisors.

Windchill running on HP 9000 Enterprise Servers delivers a
secure, web-enabled manufacturing infrastructure that improves
collaboration, supplier integration and customer demand processes. HP
Praesidium security tools provide the industry's leading web security,
a key requirement for extended design and supply chain collaboration.

"To stay competitive, manufacturers are looking to web-based
solutions to provide the infrastructure to dynamically involve their
partners and suppliers in product development and delivery processes,"
said Ron Locklin, vice president strategic alliances. "The Windchill
Factor! e-Series provides that solution and our work with HP will
provide our customers access to proven methodologies and experienced
practitioners in product development management, process analysis and
project management to compress their implementation cycle and quickly
realize the returns on their Windchill investment."

"Successful product development requires dynamic processes,
easy-to-implement data-management solutions and an experienced
system-integration team," said Bruce Toal, technical solutions
marketing manager for HP's Business Critical Computing Business Unit.
"HP's worldwide consulting and services expertise will enable
Windchill-trained consultants based in more than eight countries to
help customers reduce time, cost and risk factors for a successful
Windchill implementation."

The modular service offerings include the following:

-- Process Consulting for Windchill: HP will provide access to
the company's world-class engineering models and e-business consulting
expertise to help define new business processes that reduce product
development time.

-- Windchill Application Consulting: PTC will provide a
development and deployment roadmap to enable new processes and
applications across the enterprise.

-- Application integration Services: PTC will help integrate
Windchill solutions into existing enterprise systems such as
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), purchasing, other engineering data
management systems and real-time engineering collaboration
environments.

-- HP Rapid/IT for Windchill: HP will assess the current
technology infrastructure, including networking, security and Internet
consulting, and then design and implement enhancements to better
support Windchill.

Target industries will include manufacturing, automotive,
aerospace and high technology electronics.
