I went to Catholic school, a long time back, and my experience was bad enuf for me to change schools in the 8th grade even tho my family had used all kinds of influence to get me into the school. Of course things may have changed now since people are more educated and aware.

The school, St. Josephs in Bombay, used all kinds of threats to convert teachers, cane non caths for minor infractions, get money from students families by sending teachers to our houses during the finals, and forcing students to do the cross every morning.

It didnt bother me since I wud just not do the cross. but then they got smart. They wud select one student every day to start off the day by doing the cross. When my turn came, I refused (always been bull headed) and was made to kneel down the whole day. That did it. I changed schools. never did tell my confused family why.

Now adays I understand that they get sued for trying those tactics.
