[ BT/MCI/MSFT] Damon
>>Jim: If you believe "BT/MCI Merger would work just the way they had", I've got news for you. BT is going to put their stamp on things. MCI will keep their name for US branding. Everywhere else, it will be Concert. If the MCI culture doesn't survive, it would be bad for the new combined company since that edge is what makes MCI so savy.<<
The statement "I've got news for you" is not a way to gain friends, and encourage participation, and is surly not a way to write to the one of the hard working people of this thread who provide volumes of information. (My arm hurts)
You drop a four line bomb shell, why? Why the attitude Oh Nobel and wise one?
No doubt BT bought MCI, but within it is treated more as a merger.
BT is one of the largest and most successful telecommunications companies in the world, with an annual revenue of $22.6 billion. Concert, was a joint venture company formed in 1994, draws on the combined technical and marketing strengths of the two world leaders. In 1994, BT bought 20% of MCI for $4.3 billion, and MCI and BT established their Concert global services venture.
MCI is no slouch either at with annual revenues of more than $15 billion.
"If you look at the technicalities, you can say it's a takeover," BT CEO Peter Bonfield said at the London news conference Sunday morning. "If you look at management structure, then we have merged our companies."
I don't know why sought to make me look like I don't know what's going on, but I hope you feel better soon.
All I said was "As I understood the BT/MCI Merger, both would work just the way they had, but work on CONCERT in concert. But that was months ago, when it was first announced."
I didn't want to stray into in-depth discussions about creating the world's largest international business merger, but since BT was instrumental in the ETSI decision to make DMT the ETSI standard, and it looks like Amati and Amati/NEC are working out quite well with MCI/MSFT trials, then BT/MCI teams Concert with the NTT group, I guess it's OK to stray.
And least we not forget that Concert = BT/MCI/MSFT.
