Sometimes people on this thread get a little righteous about the Good vs Evil debate. If MSFT wasn't meeting a need they wouldn't be in business. If SUNW wasn't meeting a need they wouldn't be in business. Each company will do whatever is in their power to grow their business.

Phillip Morris, and RJ Reynolds can also be defended from this perspective: they meet a need, and they do everything in their power to grow their business. Microsoft has created a need, and met it, but is now trying to lock in and defend that need, using tactics that are unethical and possibly illegal.
