<<That is just what Peter van Cuylenberg, now the former head of Quantum DSS, is doing. He's going to become
president of InterTrust, a company that creates security

Amazing. Aside from all the other possible reasons for the resignation, this highlights a huge problem for any established company, especially in the technology field. How do you keep an experienced person when some start-up playing with internet funny money in combination with the abiity to award massive stock options that are "free" to the income statement can lure them away. One of the reasons I recently sold IBM.
The interesting question is whether this unquestionably inappropriate accounting treatment will add to a speculative bubble or help further America's lead in the field of the 21st century, or both.
By the way, can anyone even keep track of all the companies working on internet security? -Z
