Chuckles,

Re: "You surprise me! Can you shed any details on why you think it is only going to be 1 speed grade given:

- The die size shrinks from 184 to 104 should reduce a lot of the speed paths
- The voltage will probably remain the same (unlike Katmai to CuMine change as I said earlier)
- The process will be true 0.18 compared to a hybrid 0.25
- AMD probably found a few enhancements along the way

What is wrong with this picture?"

The key "clue" here is that the voltage will stay the same ... This
means that there probably won't be any additional scaling of the
gate length or gate thickness. Thus, the FET drive currents will be
close between AMD's .25um (ATHWipe) process and a new AMD .18um process.
I would expect the die size shrinks as you stated, but performance won't
change as much in the initial AMD transition. AMD could come
back and add a "scaled FET" (.15um - .13um "type"), but we will
see a change in the operating voltage.

Make It So,
Yousef
