Karen and Liz:

Guess I should actually watch this Cringeley PBS thing before commenting.....but, what the heck.

I've been living half time among the digerati in Silicon Valley. As I understand the review of Cringeley's Y2K piece, he is right in the middle of the attitudes of this crowd. They are so caught up in making fun of anyone who is afraid of technology (oooooh, look how scared everyone was of nuclear disaster when we were all little kids) that they are spending remarkably little time actually talking to people who might be in possession of any Y2K facts.

So, for what it is worth, Cringeley is right in the middle of Silicon Valley opinion.

On the other hand, Bob Metcalfe just held his Agenda conference. He is predicting a stock market crash for November 8, I believe. Y2K could be one reason, but basically he thinks that all of the tech stocks are just ridiculously overvalued and the earnings are not going to hold up. Of course, he didn't anticipate Intel and Microsoft going into the Dow.

Let's see who is still saying that Y2K is no big deal around February or March of next year.
