Tom: Thuycididies here...back from the computer repair shop after a most unfortunate modem failure last Thursday, and a further disagreeable experience with Mr. Fix-it.
By all means read the RFM, and while you're in the learning mood, would be worthy of your portfolio to also pick up the two earlier works by Mr. Moore, "Crossing the Chasm" and "Inside the Tornado." Another purchase, still in hardback I think, is "The Innovator's Dilemma" by Christensen. These latter three will help you understand how technology managers think about their companies. I also have a subscription to Forbes, but the real reason is so I can have copies of their quarterly supplement, ASAP, which usually scopes in the directions new technologies are going, and what companies are the players. Good stuff. If this is background, then you'll need some current events material, and the periodical list given in TFM is as good as it gets....titles from CMP and Ziff Davis predominate, and you can pick based on those technological areas that interest you most....each publisher must have over 40 titles...each edited for a slightly different group of engineers, marketers, and managers in tech companies.
Finally, if you've the inclination, reading the thread from the header through over 8,000 posts now, (an unabridged Cliff Notes as I see it) would be very useful, especially if you keep track of posts about stocks you like.
Good luck, and sorry it took so long to get back to your first of many posts. |
