The Financial Post reports in its Friday edition that the mystery of what
really happened deep in the Indonesian jungle took a dark twist on Thursday
with reports that Mike de Guzman was not the man who died in a helicopter
plunge last month. Reporter Sandra Rubin notes that a respected Indonesian
newspaper says that a second autopsy, carried out in the Philippines at the
request of the geologist's family, has concluded that the body buried in
his homeland is not his. Media Indonesia says that the doubts arose after a
team of doctors found the teeth of the corpse did not match Mr de Guzman's
dental records. Indonesian police, however, insist that fingerprints from
the first autopsy confirm the body was Mr de Guzman's. The Post offers no
mention if the Indonesian paper or Indonesian police have anything to say
about dental records in the first autopsy. A police spokesman says that his
force is 100 per-cent sure the body was Mr de Guzman.
