No, I don't mean to be painting a bleak picture, just telling it like it is. While this doesn't apply to any of the players we've discussed here, i.e., where voice is the sole source of revenue, there are those CLECs who were spawned in the old school of POTS.
These operators [mostly smaller, usually unknown ones, for the most part... but many of them at the same time] cut their teeth on voice, alone, as recently as just two or three years ago, and never bothered bootstrapping themselves until recently [some still haven't] in order to exploit the data explosion. Consequently, some of these outfits wont make it on their own, succumbing to the forces of consolidation, merged or acquired, or, worse. FWIW.
