Trained, What impressed me most was his confidence in the co's products, emphasis on research and on human resources (personnel). He refuted the story about losing the Bell South contract. According to him, Bell had excess inventories of Blackberry "wearable computer" (his words and I agree that it is more than a pager). He said he has very good business relations with Bell. He showed a BB and explained the various functions of BB. As for the secondary offer, approx. $250 M were collected and the major purpose of the offer was to meet the expanding organizational needs as the co. is expanding the production, R&D (new plant/facilities) and manpower. He discussed the cooperation between the Univ, of Waterloo (UOW),Wilfred Laurier Univ.(WLU) and the co. which are all located at Waterloo. UOW is famous for engineering and WLU is famous for business school. When he finished I felt proud to be Canadian as he is, and my faith in the co. was enhanced. He doesn't like his co. being associated with 2-way pagers but with technology /electronic/internet etc. He showed a model of BB on ROBTV and the various functions of it. If my memory serves me correct, the clients include MSFT.Intel, M_L,. I wish I had recorded the interview. He was very reluctant to discuss using money for acquisition. IMHO, the co. is interested in wireless communications, e-trading etc. This is just my impression. I was surprised to see a tiny keyboard on the BB. The co. uses profit sharing incentive for ALL. Good luck with RIM/RIMM. RUSTY.
