Fine - I agree - but that doesn't, in any fashion, disqualify what I said. Stock options and how to account for them are contentious issues in the accounting world.

But currently, when they are issued, they are NOT EXPENSED and therefore do not appear on the income statement. They do appear on the balance sheet - if they are "in-the-money." And, if a company is in a "quiet" period, employees are NOT allowed to sell the shares in the open market.
