Now as to Descarte - If one chooses to be that strict, then I believe one is left with the cogito ergo sum statement and nothing more.
IMO, there is plenty of supporting evidence (but no solid proof) to the assumption of a created universe from logical and scientific sources as well.
The Big Bang theory for example; several aspects of quantum theory.
