Another meaningless deal from Newbridge. Do you know the value of that deal? I bet it's miniscule.

The recently filed S-4 makes for interesting reading. If you read the section -- "Background of the Merger" -- you will get a detailed account of the dealings that went on behind the scene before the official announcement. If you look at the timeline and compare it to the movement in the stock price of STII, it is clear that there were leaks and someone was buying up shares of STII based on inside information of the pending deal.

Who was it? Newbridge insiders, Stanford insiders, parties connected to the negotiations, or all of the above? Right now it remains unclear, but one thing is certain, someone knew something and they were using that information to buy STII before the official announcement. This is a clear infraction of the securities rules governing insider trading.
