Did you hear about the company that blamed their poor quarterly earnings on the hurricane? That was comical, it happened after the quarter was over. CNBC was all over that one. Earnings are nice, but you have to have a product to sell first. Pouring over SEC filings to find something that will embarrass the company is a poor waste of time and energy. When I read IMDS filings, I just search for 1999 to see what's new. Looking for updates on trial status, etc. Could care less what the HAWKE groups says, I will do my own market analysis once they have a product, and then conjure up some earnings estimates of my own.
