INDONESIAN PRESIDENT EXPRESSES DESIRE TO FORWARD RELATIONS WITH ISRAEL Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid stated on Monday that his country will begin trading with Israel as a first step toward full diplomatic relations, YEDIOT AHARANOT reported. Over the past few years the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has maintained secret contacts with Indonesia that included visits by top Israeli officials. The assessment in Israel is that it will be months before Wahid is able to stabilize the domestic situation in Indonesia and only then will he focus on his international agenda.
