There are a number of idle units in the area that could handle the lower end of that range. Otherwise, they'll have to pull in one of the big boys. And it won't be cheap. Big Isn't this true of a lot of rig categories that the stuff available is at the the lower end of the depth range? I've been looking at the new version of the Oceandril site called RIGZONE. rigzone.com I'am sure you have other sources for this info but this is a fine site for anyone looking at offshore drillers. Lots of new features including searching by rig owner and rated water depth, GOM maps and industry news. It requires a simple registration. I find very few premium jackups (250+) available in the GOM. I also find just three ready-stacked rigs worldwide that are rated 4000+ and none in the GOM. I'am wondering if current utilization rates (mostly 70-75%) may not be a true representation of the current market since idle rigs are so concentrated at the low end. John
