re: putting people in boxes ("doesn't compute")

You probably have noticed by now that something drives me to challenge the status quo. So, you're going to have a really tough time putting me into a box :-)

music
Suprisingly, all the mentioned artists can be put into the same box.

Gaines' & Wynins' have Rhythm & Blues harmonies that sound great plus seem to carry some real feelings. Doesn't sound "amateur" or "fake" like most of the stuff that is played on Christian radio stations. There is a latent blues element here that gives them their authenticity. BTW, Once heard Patty LaBell sing a christian song, the quality of her work brought tears to my eyes.

In the history of the blues, Hendrix was hugely influential. Didn't really care all that much for his singing, but he was the first to think of doing alot with an electric guitar. (His star spangled banner was absolutely incredible!) You can hear his influence in other greats such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, probably the best blues guitarist of all time. Joplin was a similarly influential blues artist.

email address, remaining anonymous

Ever watch Montey Python's Flying Circus? They had a sketch titled "The Advantages of Remaining Unseen". It had people being blown to bits whenever their location was determined. Kinda appropriate for the Internet now... Below are some valid reasons for not revealing your e-mail address:

(1) junk mail. I'm sick of this &$*%*&! The SI forum is a natural place to collect addresses for financial & scam mailing lists. No thankyou.

(2) Identity theft. This is an increasing problem. What better place than this SI forum for preliminary screening. For a good article on this, search for "Identity Theft" at sfgate.com.

(3) Privacy. People can build a profile on you now. This allows future discrimination against those who challenge the status quo. Governments are trying to regulate content. What you say here, may get propagated to countries where it is illegal. Not too good if you're seriously thinking about working overseas in the future.

(4) Kooks. Say something honest about some hypster's pet stock and he/she will mailbomb you in retaliation. Don't have time for that.

Maybe I'm just paranoid :-) But, then again the Senate just forced the SSA to close down that stupid online query site that made a great resouce for identity theft.

God bless. Hope this all computes now.
