Maybe I should clarify myself, lest I get any more responses, questions, and flames.
There was a push not too long ago to move even the engineering apps (iHDL, VHDL, the in-house tools, etc.) to NT. Currently (at least in my department), we run everything on HP-UX boxes. You can imagine how the engineers felt about being forced from UNIX onto NT. But then some tried moving their apps over to Linux and Linux-based machines, presumably based on Intel processors. They like Linux so much that they're most likely convincing others to make the switch as well.
As for everything else, such as e-mail, office suite applications, etc., NT is it, no matter what. I don't think the rest of the company would appreciate being forced onto Linux just because us engineers like it over NT. Besides, we run all of our UNIX stuff through Exceed on NT boxes anyway. This way, we can work on our projects through UNIX, then easily switch to MS Outlook for our e-mail, MSIE or Netscape for our intranet browsing, etc.
