Virtual Gaming in Contempt Over Facts Sought by SEC (Update1)

Washington, Sept. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Virtual Gaming
Enterprises Inc., a California online casino operator, was found
in contempt by a federal judge for impeding a Securities and
Exchange Commission investigation into the sale of the company's
stock, regulators said.
Virtual Gaming has been under investigation for suspected
fraud in connection with the sale of its stock, as part of the
commission's focus on microcap securities fraud, the SEC said
today.
U.S. District Judge Marilyn Huff in San Diego held the
company in civil contempt on Sept. 3 for its non-compliance with
an SEC subpoena.
She ordered Escondido, California-based Virtual Gaming
executives to testify and produce documents in connection with
the SEC probe. The judge also told the company to pay $5,000 a
day for every day after Sept. 10 that the company fails to comply
with the requirements of the commission's subpoena. Virtual Gaming shares, which are quoted on the over-the-
counter bulletin board as VGAMD, rose 15/32 to 10 1/2.
The company's attorney did not immediately return a call
seeking comment.
