I think the system relies on antenna arrays.
Basically, they need to be able to separate
multipath signals. The paper claims that its
model is more general than the one used by Blast
but you are right in pointing out that the
general concept is similar. The OFDM structure,
however, allows some important tricks to
minimize the effect of fading, such as frequency
interleavers and vector trellis codes.

As you can imagine, all implementation details are
missing.
