Hi Gene Parrott; Another rumor of ill wind for Rambus, but not from a substantial source:

Intel Product Launch
I just got back from the Intel Coppermine launch at the ANA Hotel in Sydney. I'll try and provide you with a brief synopsis of what I saw.
...
Although it wasn't officially announced, we were allowed to see a prototype i820 'Camino' board that featured no RIMM slots! In place of the RIMM slots were two conventional SDRAM slots! Apparently a special chip was required to allows for this. Incidentally, this was an engineering sample, with 'secret' written clearly on the chipset. Shaun Casey, the Intel Tech Manager, confirmed that the i820 would get released before Christmas. With proper SDRAM support, the i820 could be a real winner.
