rudedog: Let's assume that the total "shortfall" in the commercial PC segment was $400-450 millions. Let's assume that $150-200 million of that is accounted for by inventory being removed from channel. What of the 4th quarter?

1. Will the level of channel inventory stabilise in the 4th quarter or the 1st?

2. How much more will any further reduction in channel inventory take out of "revenues" in the 4th quarter and 1st quarters?

3. Looking a the other causes of the shortfall - competitive pricing, Taiwan-related shortage of parts and, possibly, YK2 related delays - what effect will they have in the 4th and 1st?

4. Is there any other reason why COMPAQ's revenues cannot resume former rates of growth in this segment?
