Tenchusatsu, re:<AMD will have to sell Athlons to MS at rock-bottom prices. ... ... "AMD will make up for the losses with sales of high-end Athlon Ultra," ...>

Why does it have to be Athlon Ultra? There was no reference to the use of Athlon Ultra in MS announcement! The MS game-box is a user non-modifiable(features and basic components) unit, that would give them umpteen possibilities to cut costs. EX: they don't need to use the Athlon in the cartridge form. They can have it soldered directly to the pc board saving cost of sockets and the Athlon Module. They can have the memory chips directly soldered onto the board eliminating mfg costs of DIMM and cost of DIMM sockets. The PC board itself can be a several times smaller than a typical PC ATX boards.

Also, I could be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that actual mfg cost of the Sony Playstation II is going to be about $570, but they are going to sell it for $300 - $350.
