A shorter's risk is only UNLIMITED if he fails (foolishly) to buy some sort of protective call. Also, you can create a short position on cash OR margin (as I have done). I tend to be a long, but the way RMBS has been going up and down lately I am starting to play the ups and the downs - very short term in both cases. Jeff Smith
