I don't think inflation bugs are dying. How investors will react to inflation is not, however, clear to me. But, this time, investors will not necessarily or decidedly opt for gold (in case of mounting inflation), mainly because gold will not be the standard again because of credible and transparent monetary policies of at least the major central banks.

I guess investors will be tuned to hold a mix of various currencies (or assets in various countries), as will central banks.

I have a qualifier and that is: if we enter a global economic scenario with central banks not trusting each other's monetary policy, the situation may be chaotic.

I have a strange feeling that over-valued stocks will retreat without much noise on the overall economies and investors will resort to value plays. I don't expect a panic driven hysteria across the board. This is because technology is still in its infancy and major central banks are following credibly transparent monetary policies and are poised to sell gold to buy back their currencies.
