I had a gourmet frozen dinner tonight. But it wasn't easy. The bus from the doctor's let me off a couple of blocks the other side of the fancy health food store that I like. I don't usually go because I don't often want to walk 9 blocks and then back for groceries. So I leapt at the opportunity.

In I go, thinking I'll get a couple of things, but all that stuff was there looking so good. I filled up an assortment of stuffed and fancy olives. Got a couple of frozen dinners. A couple of things from the deli. Some tofu. Some peanut sauce. You know. And then a couple of Odwalla's that were staring at me by the checkout.

33 dollars and I had 27. I blush and shrug and say I'll put a couple of things back. She says, "Oh, wait. I'll give you the senior discount" Nicely adding that she knew I wasn't a senior. 30 dollars. I sighed and picked out some things to put back. 26 and change. Bingo. As she turned to put the money in the till, she slipped the things back in the bag. "They'd just go to waste". Sheesh. I take my bag, smiling as I look at the ground, muttering my profuse thanks and start to walk off. "Don't forget your book," she calls after me.

Shopping is a strain sometimes.
