Another xDSL tid bit...

fortuneinvestor.com

BROADBAND DISPATCHES.... In a speech at the
Telecom '99 show in Geneva on October 12, Bill
Gates said he believes consumer demand for DSL will
soar over the next 18 months. Says he wants
Microsoft to partner with telco companies in this area,
the same way MSFT allied with Intel and Compaq in
years past. That must be music to the ears of small
DSL providers like Covad, North Point, and Rhythm
NetConnections, as well as gear makers like Copper
Mountain and Nokia. Many of their stocks have been
flat of late, even though they are reporting record
demand and improving profitability.
